HOW YOU CAN HELP

After following our travels on Facebook and through this blog lots of people have asked how they can help.  I hesitate to do this, but the fact is, as Americans, the biggest help we can be to Father Chomba, the Stove Team, Kizungu Village, the Orphans, the girls effected by the fire at St Thersias, and all the other needs in this small corner of the world is to send them direct aid.  The needs are massive, but that should not stop any of us from trying.

While we were in Sumbawanga we set up a small personal bank account so we can transfer money directly to Father Chomba.  He has access to the account and can withdraw funds at any time for any charitable mission he sees fit.  Father has assured us that if we want aid directed towards a specific need, he will pass the money on to that person or entity.  If you leave a donation without strings attached, Father will assume it is in the "General Fund".  Most of the money in the General Fund will be used to advance the Marian Stove Project and especially their outreach in Kizungu Village.

As with any charitable giving there is a degree of trust required.  We are trusting that our friends on the ground, Father Chomba and Gabriel, know the best use of any aid they receive.  You would be trusting Susi and I that the funds will get sent directly to Sumbawanga.

I will leave the details here and let your hearts make the best decision, There are three ways to get this done:


  • If you have cash or a check just send it to Susi or I and we will get it to Sumbawanga with your intentions.
  • To make things easier we established a Go Fund Me with the aim of helping the Sumbawanga Region.  Click the link below and you can pay by credit card.

Ed's Speech at Kizungu Village

Our total visit and the background on Kizungu Village will be in the post that follows, but I wanted to get a short video of Ed's Speech to the village and the celebration afterwards up quickly.  This clip is just the end of a much longer and very moving speech my dad gave.  We should all be so blessed as he clearly was today. After the speech, Ed and Nancy were presented with presents, thankfully no chickens this time, but two hand-made stools and a large portion of the local honey Kizungu village is famous for.
